Felix Martin Miller (1819 – 1908).

Felix Martin Miller was born in Verdun, Meuse, France, in February 1919; he was orphaned as a boy and brought up at the London Orphan School. In his twenties he studied at the Royal Academy Schools.

He worked at that art school at South Kensington Museum as a Master in the Modelling class, modelling for other artists (including Minton and Copeland) and also exhibited his own sculptures at the Royal Academy.

Miller was described by The Art Journal of 1874 as `one of the few sculptors whose genius is manifest and who has produced works, chiefly bas-reliefs, that are unsurpassed by any production of their class in modern art' according to the Victoria and Albert Museumpage on Ariel(which seems to give an incorrect date).
